It's a Bell!
At 11.55am on November 7th, weighing approx 3 1/2 cwt., the new Treble for Great Wilbraham was born at the Whitechapel Bell Foundry in London.
Present at the casting were tower captain, Phil Gorman, Richard Wright (donor of the bell) and local Midwife, Marilyn Thompson.
The mould will be broken off next week, and the bell cleaned and sent for tuning.
The bell is dedicated to St. Nicholas - the only bell in the tower to be dedicated to the patron saint of the church. Apart from the modern inscriptions and the modern shape, it is largely set out in the style of pre-reformation bells. It has a Latin inscription around the upper band denoting to whom the bell is dedicated:
SANCTE NICOLAE ORA PRO NOBIS.

Restoring Sight to the Blind
Jill Godber & Jenny Upton cut the 100th anniversary cake
The CBM - Christian Blind Mission - Big Blind Bonanza at Fulbourn’s Six Bells Pub on World Sight Day, October 9th was a huge success. Enough money has been raised to restore sight to 100 blind people in poor countries.
Incredibly, we are on track to raise £2000. Some generous donations were made. One lady read the Bonanza leaflet and gave £200. Another wrote a cheque for £100. And the gifts continue to arrive. So we confidently expect to have raised over £2000 at the end of the day
It costs £20 to provide a cataract operation for a blind person in the developing world. So £2000 will be enough for 100 cataract operations for people who are blind
Thanks Fulbourn!

A new pastoral venture
A new daytime group has begun in September, run by Ann Neale and Marilyn Harmer. It offers a space for pastoral care and fellowship for folk in our villages and a place to get to know people from the church informally.
