Adult Groups

A small group offers a place to learn, share and grow together in faith, hope and love. Over the past few years we have encouraged people from all our churches and those in our villages interested in exploring Christianity further to join a small group. New friends have been made and new insights into faith and life have transformed lives.

Inaugural Coffee & Chat Group'Coffee & Chat'
A new daytime group began in September 2008, run by Ann Neale and Marilyn Harmer. It offers a space for pastoral care and fellowship for folk in our villages and a place to get to know people from the church informally.
The group meets on the first Monday of each month at 10.30, finishing at 12 noon.

Adult women's group'Time to Share’ women’s group
on Friday mornings in Fulbourn.

This group offers a time for prayer, sharing, Bible study, coffee and cake! Having reflected on what God says about self esteem, the group decided to spend time looking at the Book of Romans and what it might mean to become ‘new in Christ’!

Alpha courseAlpha courses
Alpha is probably the most famous small group, ideal for those wanting to explore the Christian faith for the first time or because they want a refresher.

Pastoral care group
We launched a new pastoral care group across our churches in 2007. The group is fortunate to have the facility for training and supervisory support from our clergy and two members of our congregations who are experienced counsellors. We have encouraged and given people skills in their existing ministries both within and outside the parishes.
Members of the group are able to undertake individual visits for those who feel they might benefit. We have set up a system to welcome new people to the villages and to follow up baptisms and funerals.

Men's BreakfastBreakfast meetings
Breakfast groups, for men and women separately, meet on Saturday mornings every two months, with a short talk and a big breakfast. Speakers from our own congregations and outside give us food for thought; and we then enjoy breakfast together. These occasions offer a great place to bring new friends and to get to know others from our churches.

Marriage Course
The Marriage Course provides an opportunity for couples to enrich their marriage. The course includes a set of course material covering a range of topics including; the art of communication, resolving conflict, the power of forgiveness, parents and in-laws, good sex and languages of love. We start by enjoying a delicious meal together, cooked by the group host and hostess and we then watch the DVD which introduces the theme and guides us through the evening. We try to create a relaxed atmosphere and private space for couples to chat together using the course material provided as a springboard, after they have watched a DVD. Those from our churches who have done the course all valued the time together and the chance to reflect on and develop their marriages.

To find out when our next course is, e-mail Juliet at our parish centre, Twelve, or contact one of the clergy.

Short courses
Occasional short courses are run throughout the year exploring Christianity.

We also run a regular lent course in the weeks leading up to Easter.

Mill Green HouseRetreats
We run termly retreats and Christian meditations to enable you to find time to relax, pray and reflect. These take place at Judy Hanmer's home in Bottisham or at Mill Green House, near Haverhill.
