900th Anniversary of Ely Diocese
A year of celebration
2009 marks the 900th year of the Diocese of Ely. There will be events throughout the year to mark this achievement, which can be found here.
The celebrations take off on the week-end of January 23rd - 25th. The central point of the week-end will be the

Saturday, January 10th at 8.30 a.m.: Fulbourn Six Bells
Gavin Howard, who runs The Besom project in Cambridge, will be our guest speaker. Besom takes people from churches within Cambridge who have time and skills to give, and matches them in groups to people with specific needs.
Sunday, January 11th at 7 p.m.:  Fulbourn 'Twelve'
Colin Chapman, a local expert on the links between Islam and Christianity, and the author of 'Cross & Crescent: Responding to the Challenge of Islam'  will join us to explore:  "Christianity and Islam: where next?"

Christmas Matters
Our churches were packed for the Christmas Day and the Christmas carol services - a demonstration that the reason for the Christmas celebrations really matters to so many people.

It's a Bell!
At 11.55am on November 7th, weighing approx 3 1/2 cwt., the new Treble for Great Wilbraham was born at the Whitechapel Bell Foundry in London.
Present at the casting were tower captain, Phil Gorman, Richard Wright (donor of the bell) and local Midwife, Marilyn Thompson.
The mould will be broken off next week, and the bell cleaned and sent for tuning.
The bell is dedicated to St. Nicholas - the only bell in the tower to be dedicated to the patron saint of the church. Apart from the modern inscriptions and the modern shape, it is largely set out in the style of pre-reformation bells. It has a Latin inscription around the upper band denoting to whom the bell is dedicated:
