Gareth Banton

Gareth Banton

Gareth began as an ordinand at Ridley Hall in 2015. He will be studying there for three years. Before training for the priesthood, he was Anglican Chaplain to Liverpool Hope University, and before that he was a youth worker.

Gareth is married to April, and they have one son, Samuel David. They live in Cherry Hinton, which feels very suburban to Gareth (who comes from Liverpool), and very urban to April (who comes from Dorchester).

When he has time, he likes to wild camp and hike. He also likes to play acoustic guitar; and, though he isn’t very good, he likes singing too. He can often be found of an evening playing MMORPGs with friends.

Liz Brown

Liz Brown

Liz is an ordinand at Westcott House, and will be training there for three years.  Before training for the priesthood she worked at Hampstead Parish Church as their children’s, youth and families worker.

Her home town is Colchester, Essex, where her family still live, including her twin sister and a menagerie of animals!

Her interests include body art, reading, theatre, and all sports.

Jassica Castillo-Burley

Jassica Castillo-Burley

Jassica began studying at Ridley Hall in 2015.  She was born and schooled in Nottingham. After studying Applied Chemistry at Greenwich University, she worked in Hampshire as an analytical chemist for 11 years.

In 1996 she married Roy Burley. They moved to the Midlands in 2007 to attend Charis Bible College. Their son, Elnathan, was born during this time.

Roy became a family worker at the local Anglican church. Jassica didn't know much about Church of England traditions and practices or its people. So in an effort to understand more, she set off on a quest, leading to Bishop's Certificate, Pathways to Ministry, then Worship for Today. She became licensed as the first worship leader in Lichfield diocese. These courses not only taught her generally about the Church of England but also specifically about ministry within the Church. For the first time in her life she believed that she had a purpose to play in God's plan.

In 2010 she started visiting St Philips’ Church in West Bromwich to learn about aspects of leading a church - preaching, teaching, singing, playing, helping the choir, visiting parishioners, making the tea, socialising with visitors, managing the projection system, welcoming visitors, handing out hymn books... all leading to her current training for the priesthood.

Jo Joyce

Jo Joyce

Jo started training as an ordinand at Ridley Hall in 2016. She worked for the parks department of a local council before moving to Cambridge from Maidstone in Kent. She is enjoying getting to know Cambridge again having worked here many years ago.

In her spare time she enjoys walking, gardening and jogging, and visiting her family in Essex.
